The Things That Happen When I'm Not There...

Today is the day before 2nd term starts and the Christmas Holidays are officially over.  And while my holiday was relaxed and happy with my family, I couldn't forget the little voice in the back of my mind telling me that Harry and Ron were definitely up to something.  Something that would probably get them into trouble.

😒
How right was that voice in the back of my head you ask?  100% as it turns out, because you can't even imagine what Harry got himself into right after Christmas.

Harry received a cloak for Christmas that apparently enhances one's... "hiding in plain sight" powers.  He used it to roam around in the dead of night, in the library, in the restricted Section.  When he told me, I couldn't even admonish him, I just sat back and stared until my eyes started watering.  Even though it was for a good cause (finding out who Nicolas Flamel is), he still could've gotten caught, and then what would happen?

That's not even the worst part. And honestly, the most sad.

Apparently on his adventures at night, Harry came across a mirror called the Mirror of Erised.  I've read about it before.  It's said to be a mirror that shows one's greatest desire.  And Harry found that mirror.

The book I read also said that people have literally died because they become so attached to what they see that they forget that they are still living in their own world. So when Harry started telling me this, naturally I was a bit worried.

What does a famous boy wizard, who is famous for the sole reason of being the sole survivor of a horrendous attack on his family, want the most?

His family.

Apparently Dumbledore himself, our Headmaster and the Greatest Wizard to Ever Live, found him on that third night in front of the mirror and explained to him what the mirror was exactly.  Thank goodness for Dumbledore 😊.

And although I eventually did chastise Harry and Ron both for wandering around so late (what if they'd been caught??) I was a bit disappointed that they didn't find who Nicolas Flamel was.  I still am, actually.

But I'm here now, and three heads are better than two.  If we work together, we'll find the man.  All in good time.  Hopefully before Snape tries to get past Fluffy again.
